If you have seen my new layout for my zehnaArt site (zehnaArt 3.0) you'll notice there is a center area for an image to be placed. It has taken me quite a bit of time; however, I think I have finally decided what I want to do!
I did want something elegant and something that would stay with the colors I wished to use around the site, so this is how the colors were chosen. Of course, the green will not be present. It will be the color of the letter below it. I am using the green to determine easily where I want the lines to over-lap and where I want them to go "under" the other elements of the image.
Though a WIP, I wished to post this because some people like seeing work in this stage and like to see how it develops over time.
The way I am doing this was to create, first, the background. Of course I am always changing things, so this background may be changed later; however, I always start with the background because I feel I can better coordinate the other elements that will be placed on top of it.
I am using the font "Futura" because I like the curves it portrays. Of course, I feel the kerning sometimes looks a bit off to the eye, despite the fact it may not be. So, I had to go in and fix the kerning according to how it looked correctly spaced to the eye.
The floral, curved elements are actually a part of a vector package that I bought on iStock. I have another layer of the floral elements, and I move this layer on top of the text--flip it vertically and horizontally to tell which illustration I want to use on which character. After this, I copy and paste just that vector to a new layer and go from there.
A lot of this was edited with my wacom tablet. I find that always makes life a lot easier and allows me to go in and edit even the smallest of details with more control than a mouse would.
So, there you go! Please give me your feedback on what I have so far if you feel compelled to do so. I am always interested in what people think!
I like it overall, but it is just that Byroade is too normal when Chelsi is uber cool looking. Maybe don't do as much to it just something, so it is more balanced. Still looks really great though.
I said it wasn't finished yet. Hence the WIP. xP Sorry I suppose I didn't state the actual fact that I was only working on the "Chelsi" part at the moment.
It will have the same effect on it as the "Chelsi".
